Coastal TILTCO | British Virgin Islands
A trip to the British Virgin Islands to take a look at the view and some projects that Tiltco has completed. Coastal property owners know how important it is to have quality windows and doors that not only look good, but also protect their home - especially in today’s ever changing climate. This is what we, at Tiltco, kept in mind when designing our coastal systems. Our first priority was to let nothing distract from the elegant, clean lines of our windows and doors.
Rideau Canal Skateway Shelters
The Rideau Canal, centre stage for many activities, runs through Ottawa and is an attraction for tourists. Designed by CSV Architects ( www.csv.ca ), tried to incorporate all Canadian-made products towards the shelters. These freestanding capsule-shaped shelters at $750,000 each, give skaters a place to change and to keep warm this skating season.
This winter, TILTCO has supplied our energy-efficient wood curtainwall to CSV Architects four new change shelters and three new washroom shelters. At six-metres wide and 18-metres long our curtainwall adds light that shines through the shelter, providing a warm comfortable and sustainable environment. These shelters will help create an experience for the hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists who visit Ottawa to skate on this historical landmark.

TILTCO presents Natural Light, an experience collaboration with Kilbarry Hill and Williamson Chong Architects. TILTCO, Kilbarry Hill Construction and Williamson Chong Architects, all Toronto based industry leaders, created a partnership for this year’s Interior Design Show from January 27th to 29th, 2012 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The exhibit showcased a living space designed and built by the three companies, displaying how a vision of unique design can be brought to life, with the right team in place.
TILTCO created this strategic partnership that allowed each varying specialty to showcase their expertise in an effort to highlight the importance of collaboration in manufacturing, design, and building. The exhibit featured an origami like 13 foot high ceiling, walls built from an array of uniquely designed windows and a living room space featuring an art installation built from window sections.
The booth received the Gold Award for Best Booth Design at the Interior Design Show this year for a 400 sq. ft booth.

Studio B On King
This major renovation of a former auction house was transformed into Toronto’s premier furniture showroom. The focus of the window design in this environment is to bath the entire showroom in ample natural light without any mullions or frame connections. Glass to glass seams ensure unobstructed views from street level and multiple perspectives right through the interior.
Setting a new standard in elegance and style Studio B’s showroom boasts North America’s largest mullion-less picture window spanning 23 feet wide.
The Art Collector’s House
This 19th-century home, placed in the heart of downtown Toronto, engulfs itself in a quiet, forest-covered sanctuary. In its own privacy, this property is surrounded by luscious greens and a heavenly atmosphere. This peaceful property inherits the feeling of the 60’s, but also embraces the warmth and feel of modern indulgences. The kitchen nook creates a warm welcoming place for company, or even some personal time outside with the passive view of the pool.
The intriguing design, with its complementing aesthetics and interior elements, has been carefully and precisely created, in order to create a tranquil atmosphere. The beautiful, fixed picture window and the tall tilt and turn door, perfectly reflect the peaceful space with its simple, yet open concept, allowing natural light to fill the interior. One of the room’s most appealing elements is a large lift and slide, 8 feet tall, easy to manoeuvre, easy escape to the ere decent poolside.

Town of the Blue Mountains Chalet This extensive renovation project located in the heart of Ontario’s ski country was designed to take advantage of the view of a meandering stream which winds its way through the property. The majority of this second home’s glazing faces south and west bathing the living spaces in natural light from mid day to evening. The building is situated facing the lush forests of the property. All the bedrooms, main living space including kitchen and second storey media room have clear views of the outdoors. Floor to ceiling operating windows in all bedrooms and lift slide doors in the living room extend the interior to the exterior in providing easy access to the outdoor terrace. Each room of the chalet has at least one operable tilt turn window to provide superior cross ventilation throughout both floors of the home. Two storey tall window walls on the north and south facades of the living room create a transparent perspective throughout the home. This gives the homes occupants endless perspectives through the facades, of the site and adjacent spaces. Black walnut flooring throughout compliments the warm custom hue of the windows and doors.
